RDS began in 1982 as Midway Manufacturing as a contract manufacturer. Midway manufactured electronic components in Bells, Tennessee and the surrounding communities. Within a short time, the company was operating a small warehouse space and servicing an expanded area.
Following years of success, Founder Gerry Rains ushered in the company’s next phase of growth. Under a new name, Returns Distribution Specialists (RDS), expanded the companies’ offerings by added additional warehousing and logistics services. Following development of its proprietary reverse logistics software in the early 1990s, the company expanded its reverse logistics offering to help customers manage and maximize the value of their returned products.
